It’s time to order seeds. My mother gave me The Whole Seed Catalog for Christmas this year, and looking through it continues to be one of my favorite holiday traditions. My husband and I get cozy on the couch and go through the pages with highlighters like a couple of nerds.
This year we have an even larger garden planned, and I’m not sure either one of us is really ready.
I wrote in another post about investing hope. I have been thinking a lot about allowing myself to feel positively toward the future. It often seems like there is so little to look forward to when our political climate and actual climate are heading in such a bleak direction.
But if I don’t look ahead to change, if I don’t plant a seed in the hopes that it will grow into something useful and beautiful and functional, then am I not also contributing to the problem?
